Purpose:
The purpose of this blog is to enlighten boxing fans the history of pugilism and how it affects current times. I aspire to discuss the history of Prizefighting from the Broughton rules of 1743 to current times. I also want to give insight of the various eras of boxing. As time passes, many fighters are forgotten about. I want to remind enthusiasts of the great fighters of their times. If anything else, my goal is to create more complex fans and to also entertain.
Target audience:
My target audience 19-35 males and females from California of all ethnic groups. Many of my target audience are former athletes. Many of the audience members prefer combat sports as opposed to team sports. Most audience are confident, bold & self reliant individuals.
Importance of Blogs:
The importance of blogs are to educate and entertain. Knowledge is power. Also, perception is reality. The more people voice their opinions, the more the topic is diversified. Blogs can also inspire debate, which also helps deepen your knowledge of that subject.

Jack Johnson and an intro into the World of Pugilism
Jack Johnson.
No other sport details the complexities and struggles of life than Boxing. That being said, It's safe to say that life IS about fighting...Fighting for what you believe in, Fighting for who you want to be.. Whether it is physical, mental or spiritual, people fight everyday..
People tend to flock towards people of like interests. When those interest are solely based on skin color, it's called racism. Imagine a country so racist, so delusional, so evil.. So what do you do? Kick everybody's ASS that they put in front of you.. When they realize they can't beat you in the ring, they create laws to beat you out of the ring...
Joe Louis played by America's rules and look what they did to him...
Boxing is always interesting. Being a boxing aficionado, I am often given the opportunity to see many fights all over the country. One thing I fine unique and somewhat humorous, is a person's ability to talk negatively (almost to point of physical contact) about a person, but then tremble in fear in their presence.. I remember this rich guy heckling a boxer that was fighting and then apologized when the fighter approached him after his fight.
I guess it is easier to critique than to actual DO.. Once again, fighting IS life. Some people fight for what they believe in (in this case, literally).
I am often reminded of this fable by Aesop:

The interesting thing about Jack Johnson is simply his boldness in such a racist era...

I am often reminded of this fable by Aesop:
The Wolf and the Kid A Kid was perched up on the top of a house, and looking down saw a Wolf passing under him. Immediately he began to revile and attack his enemy. "Murderer and thief," he cried, "what do you here near honest folks' houses? How dare you make an appearance where your vile deeds are known?" "Curse away, my young friend," said the Wolf. "It is easy to be brave from a safe distance."
Stay Strong. Stay Bold. Stay Fighting!
